The Wheatley

The Wheatley, an urban infill project completed in 2016, is a five-story mixed-use apartment building in the Five Points neighborhood featuring 82 units that range from studios to two-bedroom apartments. The building includes deed-restricted affordable housing, with 18% of its units restricted to residents earning 80% of AMI or lower, to promote inclusion in the community. The Wheatley is also home to 14 three-story townhomes and office space. This project, Palisade’s initial entry into the Five Points neighborhood, was one of the first of its kind during the ongoing renaissance and revitalization of the area.

Inside The Wheatley, residents can enjoy community amenities such as on-site parking, a fitness center, a rooftop deck with a fire pit and grills, a coffee bar, plus a clubroom with a ping pong table and an entertainment-sized kitchen. Additionally, there is bicycle storage, package lockers, and a recycling program. All units have either a private balcony or a Juliette balcony so that residents can take in the city and the mountain views from the comfort of their own homes.

The building’s exterior features a monument dedicated to Phillis Wheatley, the building’s namesake. The Wheatley YMCA was historically located on the site of The Wheatley. Phillis Wheatley was one of the first women and the first African American poet to be published.

Residents can enjoy live music at Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom and get their morning fuel from the famous Rosenberg’s Bagels. The Wheatley is mere steps away from the 25th and Welton Light Rail Station to head downtown or out of town.
